Jim Geaney {Director} – Geaney’s, Charters Towers, North Queensland. Jim has over 40 years experience in the Livestock and Real Estate Industry. Born in Townsville his first contact with the industry was when he joined the respected pastoral house, THE AUSTRALIAN ESTATES CO LTD in Townsville in 1971. Initially in the Merchandise division and subsequently as a livestock salesman he was transferred to Julia Creek in 1976 and back to Townsville in 1978 as the branches North Queensland Livestock Coordinator. Transferred to Charters Towers in 1979 as Branch Manager with the introduction of live weight selling. Following the merger of ESTATES and AML & F & Co in 1981 Jim resigned and joined a private livestock agency firm in Charters Towers, Dalrymple Pastoral Agency. He secured his Real Estate Agents Licence in 1983 and after 5 years as a partner he established his own company GEANEY’S in 1986. In the intervening years, GEANEY’S has established and enviable reputation in the northern areas of the state, and apart from extensive activity in the Rural Property and Livestock trading areas, regularly participates in the weekly cattle auctions at Charters Towers. Jim has a strong commitment to the Livestock Agency Industry in North Queensland and is a Queensland Director of the Australian Livestock Property Agents Association. Jim provides the knowledge base that GEANEY’S has been built on.
Judy Geaney {Accounts & Finance Manager} – While raising a young family, Judy worked on a casual basis with Dalrymple Pastoral Agency gaining the knowledge and experience that flows with her into running the accounts and finance behind the scenes but still on a personal and friendly basis with customers and clients. She is the heart that pumps the blood through the business everyday keeping accounts maintained and up to date with precise accuracy. She also has her salesperson licence for any real estate matters that may come to hand. Judy has been providing an important role through the years and could be said to be Jim’s right hand man(woman) as his personal assistant!
Matthew Geaney {Livestock Agent & Real Estate Salesperson/ Manager} (Bcom} – A true Local to Charters Towers with barley one street in the town not ridden around on by push bike, Matthew grew up in the family business. He was exposed to all areas of real estate and livestock often being called on for an extra hand to help out in the business at all stages of the business throughout the years. After finishing school, Matthew continued his education at James Cook University in Townsville completing a Degree in Commerce and majoring in Accounting. Often being called upon in busy times to help out in the firm. After University, Matthew worked with Coutts Redington Chartered Accountants in Townsville before moving to London for work. He joined the Team at Geaney’s full time in 2003 bringing his learned knowledge and past experience to help the business grow. He has experience in real estate sales and rural property marketing. Matthew travelled to the United States of America (Billings Montana) to fast track his auctioneering skills which flows through to today with weekly Cattle sales and Stud sales along with Real Estate and Goods & Chattels Auctioneering.
Gail Hooper {Real Estate Sales Person} Charters Towers born, Gail brings local knowledge and experience to Geaney’s starting with the firm in 2001. Gail spent 10 years in hospitality and managed the Country Road Motel, giving her a wonderful understanding and knowledge of the local area and its people. Her ethical and understanding approach to real estate gives any person wishing to sell their property the full confidence in a salesperson to achieve the right result and anyone wanting to buy, the assurance that they are dealing with a reliable and ethical person on which the business has grown. Gail’s easygoing but active attitude makes her very approachable and is a valuable asset to Geaney’s and anyone wishing to conduct business with her.
